DIGITAL printing on finished bubble mailers
Digital printing on finished bubble mailers is a relatively new method that became widespread in 2019, relying on inkjet technology. You might also encounter terms like ‘inkjet printer’. This technique allows printing on the relatively flat, central part of the bubble mailer. Therefore, this method does not allow for bleed printing (simply put, not on the edges of the product) or on its closing flap.
Printing is done by applying tiny droplets of ink in CMYK colors, the quantity, arrangement, and components of which create a given color, logo, or image. It should be emphasized here that the quality of DIGITAL printing should not be compared to the quality of offset CMYK.
Despite its limitations, it is often the preferred printing method for quantities ranging from 1 carton up to 5,000 units. The maximum of 5,000 units is due to the fact that larger quantities are more cost-effectively printed using fast traditional methods (i.e., roll-to-roll on a paper web before the mailer is assembled), which offer greater flexibility in the print area, its quality, and durability.
The available types of DIGITAL printing on finished bubble mailers are described in detail below.
